The photos in My Photo Stream are stored on Apple's iCloud servers. Apple stores photos you've taken in the last 30 days. This can be a useful way to sync photos between devices; if you take a. Correction appended. The leak of personal photos of more than 100 female celebrities, nude and otherwise, has tech observers questioning and debating potential vulnerabilities in Apple’s iCloud.

Apple says a 'targeted attack' on some user accounts led to the release of nude celebrity photos, but it has found no breach of its cloud storage system.
Private, nude pictures of dozens of female celebrities, including Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence and top model Kate Upton, were posted on the internet after online storage accounts were hacked.
The images were posted on image-sharing forum 4chan, although the authenticity of many could not be confirmed.
Apple said when it learned of the theft, 'we were outraged and immediately mobilised Apple's engineers to discover the source'.
'We have discovered that certain celebrity accounts were compromised by a very targeted attack on user names, passwords and security questions,' it said.
'None of the cases we have investigated has resulted from any breach in any of Apple's systems, including iCloud or Find my iPhone.
'We are continuing to work with law enforcement to help identify the criminals involved.'
The FBI confirmed it was investigating the hacks.
'Flagrant violation of privacy'
The breach comes as Apple prepares to launch a new iPhone next week and, more importantly, as smartphones increasingly become the repository for far more sensitive healthcare, banking and other personal data.
The Apple statement suggested the celebrities had their accounts hacked by using easy-to-guess passwords or by giving up their personal data to cybercriminals posing as Apple, a technique known as phishing.
Lawrence's representative described the release of the photos as a 'flagrant violation of privacy' and said the authorities had been contacted.
Upton has also been targeted in what her lawyer has labelled as an 'outrageous violation' of privacy.
Among the scores of other celebrities whose pictures were allegedly stolen were singer Avril Lavigne, actress Hayden Panettiere and US soccer star Hope Solo.
Apart from any criminal charges that might be pursued under federal or state hacking laws, Lawrence and the other celebrities could bring civil lawsuits against the alleged hacker or hackers and those who shared the photos.
The collection of racy photos, which are rumoured to also include singer Ariana Grande and actor Kirsten Dunst, sent social media into a frenzy.
Celebrities took to Twitter to characterise the alleged hacking as less of a privacy invasion than an act of sexual aggression.
'They want to make it easy to use, so it is easy to hack'
Chris Morales, a security specialist with NSS Labs, said the hack appeared to be going on for some time, accessing multiple accounts, not just of celebrities but of their friends and associates.
'The pictures weren't just from celebrity accounts,' he said.
'They might have been from friends or ex-boyfriends or other people. Someone did a lot of digging.'
The Drum: Internet security
Security in the 'cloud' is never perfect. So just how culpable is Apple when it comes to the recent leaking of celebrity photos? Alex Kidman writes.Mr Morales said it was possible that the person or persons who leaked the pictures were not the hackers but obtained the photos later.
'The people who put it online were trying to trade photos for bitcoins,' he said.
'It was claimed that this was a sampling of a bigger cache.'

Mr Morales said Apple's security practices might be called into question, but it was following industry standards.

'They want to make it easy to use, so it is easy to hack,' he said.
Apple and others offer customers so-called two-factor authentication, an extra layer of security that will allow users to reset a password through a code sent to an email or phone.
